Radical Agenda EP261 – Dove Squads
The alt-right is keeping anti-racism groups on their toes. From a cartoon amphibian, to rotary aircraft, to common punctuation, to popular internet services, they have repeatedly turned regular everyday things that we all see, hear, and use on a regular basis into symbols of racist hatred.
The newest weapon in their arsenal of Hitlerian propaganda comes in the form of a purple bird. “Trash Dove” as it was originally named by its creator, Florida artist Syd Weller, has quickly become latest dog whistle for hate warriors around the globe. The purple fowl can be seen headbanging, eating donuts, playing with a smartphone, and even dying in a sticker pack made available to Facebook users last month. But using “meme magic” these bigots have managed to turn it to darker purposes.
The birds have now appeared in the comments sections on many left wing Facebook pages, foreshadowing the genocidal intentions of racists and misogynists who want to bring white supremacist fascism to power the world over. More troubling perhaps, is the question of how to stop it. If racists can take literally anything and turn it into sectarian war propaganda, how can our elites ever hope to stamp this kind of speech out of existence?
In other news, white college students are wearing puzzle pieces to remind themselves of their “white privilege”. American spies are trying to topple a foreign, I mean domestic, head of State. South Africa is trying to see how bad things can get. And of course, your calls at 747-234-2254 or RadicalAgenda on Skype.
So join us, this and every Wednesday, as well as Mondays and Fridays from 5-7pm Eastern for another exciting episode of the Radical Agenda. It’s a show about common sense extremism where we talk about radical, crazy, off the wall things like racist birds.
