    The first book of Mein Kampf is autobiographic. So, of course it begins with his child. An important motive for writing it, I believe, was that there were already false stories being circulated about Hitler’s origins and motives, and he wanted to allay that controversy. There was some basis for being suspicious of his motives, because he had been sent to observe the German Workers’ Party by the government. So, he laid out his origins and explained how his embrace of national-socialism was consistent with his own origins and experiences.
